Dedicated to fostering a reverence for the beauty of the earth.

Our History

In October 1996, a group of friends and like-minded community volunteers gathered in the home of Susan M. Hardtner to begin a conversation — one rooted in a shared love of gardening and a desire to make a lasting impact in Shreveport. Inspired by the civic contributions of garden clubs in New Orleans, Hardtner envisioned a similar group for her own community. The women assembled were of different ages and brought diverse talents, united by a sense of purpose and enthusiasm as they began shaping their vision. While several neighborhood garden clubs already existed in Shreveport, this group set out to create something distinct — a club with a strong focus on education, service, and horticultural excellence.

“We sought individuals committed to making a meaningful contribution to the community—women with a sincere interest in horticulture and a desire to learn.”

— Susan M. Hardtner, Founding President
